72% of Adults Send More Text Messages

According to the report, texting between adults is getting higher, with over 72 percent of those above 18 applying the technology, but their practice still light in link to texting between teenagers, who send a standard of five times as countless texts as their adult corresponding person.

Based on the study of the Pew Internet and American Life Project, out of 2,252 people, 72 percent of adults said they sent text messages in May 2010, against 65 percent of people surveyed in September 2009.

Adult texters are sending a regular of 10 texts a day, whereas individuals ages 12 to 17 are sending around 50 texts a day. There are several creative adult texters – concerning 5 percent of adults send 200 texts a day or more; teens do the same with around 5 percent.

Sexual category is not a main issue when it arrives to texting; men and women send and accept the same number of texts on an every day sources.

The report also found that if you text often, it’s likely that you also make a lot of voice calls. But if you’re a light texter, you do not make up for the lack of communication with phone calls – small number of texts also translated into a small number of calls. On average, adults will make and receive about five calls per day.

Around 91 percent of adults decided that they feel protected with a cell phone, and one more 88 percent were thankful that it reserved them linked to friends and family. And there is also 42 percent of people said there were irritated when a call or text disturbed them.

Several people acknowledge to being fairly closed to their phones; around 65 percent of people are asleep with their phone in the bed or right next to the bed. Not astonishingly this group of individuals, called “phone sleepers” by Pew, is added possible to experience absolutely concerning their phones.

Pew discovered that African American and Hispanics are more passionate and persistent users of phone capabilities than whites.

Pew said that children under 18 years of age with their parents in the home are as well more possible to have a phone as those with no kids.

Pew also discovered that spam-based texts are getting higher; 57 percent of people stated getting unnecessary or spam texts.

The report said, generally, around 82 percent of people at present have a cell phone, Pew believed. “Just as a lot of adults have a cell phone as have a computer.”
