On of the biggest gaming company, Electronic Arts (EA), has announced and confirmed the layoffs in their company but no details yet on how many will be left jobless.
According to a statement they released in their website, they said “In recent weeks, EA has aligned all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile,”. The gaming company will be reducing the workforce from different locations or offices. They also stated that, “We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of our employees – those that are leaving EA will be missed by their colleagues and friends.”
In a recent report by Kotaku, it is estimated that 10 percent of the workforce will be affected by the layoff. According to Polygon, hundreds will be left without a job in this issue.
Electronic Arts also said that these actions were very hard for them and not an easy decision but “essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us,”.
In 2012, EA has 9,000 people but it’s gradually decreasing because the gaming company continues to reduce the workforce little by little. Since February this year, round of layoffs already happened in Monteal and Los Angeles Offices.
