Facebook, the social networking giant, has announced its major addition, which is a smart search engine it has named graph search — this permits the facebook users in making “natural” searches of content shared by their friends only.
The feature includes search terms that can make use of phrases like “friends who like Harry Potter and Twilight.”
According to the chief executive and founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, the new feature is not a web search, thus it is not a direct competitor to Google. But, it was in cooperation with the Bing search engine, which is a component of Microsoft. This is for situations when graph search could not find the answers itself.
Zuckerberg noted that he is not expecting people to begin flocking to the social network to do web search. He said that it is not the intent of the feature but in case that users cannot find what they are looking for, it’s the right thing to use.
Moreover, Zuckerberg added that it’s going to help motivate and stimulate connections within the network between pages, companies, and individuals.
