Facebook, the fast-rising social networking site, reaches 500 million users. The company confirmed this information last week and is aiming to reach one billion. This means that one out of fourteen people on earth is joining the social networking site.
Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook, never expected this outcome. Facebook started six years ago in the dormitory of Harvard University. Today, Zuckerberg is aiming to match the number of Google users, targeting one billion users around the world.
Randi Zuckerberg, the Facebook spokesperson, said that the company aims to get higher number of users in India and Brazil. This is because Facebook is not performing well in these countries. The company’s targeted audience will be from these two large countries in the following years.
In an interview, Randi Zuckerberg stated that Facebook users in India and Brazil are now in high numbers. She considers these results as exciting because just last year, Facebook users from these countries are relatively low.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder, “never imagined all of the ways people would use Facebook.” It is evident that Facebook is widespread having its 500 users. Zuckerberg added the launch of “Facebook Stories.” This is another feature of Facebook that the users will be hooked up to.
