Social networking site Facebook, after testing its online deals program for four months, has chosen to end the recently launched program, which were opened in five cities in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, San Diego and San Francisco.
Facebook Deals begun in April providing tough fight to deals leaders like Groupon and LivingSocial.
Facebook said, “After testing Deals for four months, we’ve decided to end our Deals product in the coming weeks.”
Facebook added, “We think there is a lot of power in a social approach to driving people into local businesses. We’ve learned a lot from our test and we’ll continue to evaluate how to best serve local businesses.”
Facebook did not provide some particular reason for the closure of Deals, on the other hand, said that the program would finish “in coming months.”
Facebook said it stays committed to serving local business through ads, pages and other products. And it will go on to give “check-in deals.” These allow business similar to restaurants and stores give agreements to customers who “check in” by means of Facebook to allow their friends recognize where they are.
