First ever Android-based enterprise digital assistant, Honeywell

On Friday, Honeywell has disclosed its very first venture on digital assistant with an operating system of Android. It offers mobile workers a particular device having similar platform that a lot of people use in their personal day to day lives.

The product is Dolphin 7800 Android and is identified as a rugged handheld computer with accurate and fast data capture, with additional navigation capacities. This makes it an ideal product for sales representatives or delivery drivers whose work involves various customer visits.

In addition to this, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility and Microsoft Corp. also have signed an agreement for a patent, which will provide broad coverage under the patent portfolio of Microsoft for the products of Honeywell running under operating system platforms from Android and Chrome. Even though detailed terms if the agreement is private, Microsoft will still receive royalties under the patent agreement.

According to Honeywell Scanning & Mobility’s President John Waldron, the core business strategy of the company is to recommend solutions in order to meet up the requirements of the software development community. He added that in order for the company to provide their customers with the best choice of tools for success, they have signed a licensed agreement with Microsoft Corp. This will permit Honeywell to offer Dolphin 7800 to their network of partners throughout the globe.
