India’s $35 Tablet Computer

The Indian government released the newest addition to its technology, a tablet that resembles iPad.

This prototype tablet computer was released Friday and was described as the “poor man’s iPad.” The reason behind this was its cheapest laptop computer only costing $35. The touch-screen device is equipped with an Internet browser, a media player, a reader of PDF files and is capable of video conferencing. This laptop computer has also a two-gig RAM memory, wi-fi connection and weighs at 1.5 kilograms. It is able to work with batteries or even through solar power.

Tablet PC

This tablet computer was developed by the Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, and is planning to have it mass produced this year. The cost of the device might be as cheap as the cost of a basic cell phone. From a price of $35, it might decrease to $10 only

This new development shows that India is capable of technological innovations.
