The gossip for Apple’s iPad 3 appears to be gathering pace, with the latest DigiTimes report that the firm will probably embrace IGZO or indium gallium zinc oxide flat panels for the new batch of tablets.
“Starting with the new iPads, Apple will utilize IGZO panels from Sharp in order to upgrade the display resolution of the new tablets to full HD level,” according to an unnamed source from Apple’s supply chain.
“To enter the supply chain of iPads, Sharp has switched some of its capacity for large-size panels to the production of small-size panels for smartphones and tablet PCs.”
Whether or not that report happens to be accurate-if the iPad have shown something in the last 2 years, it is that any kind of prerelease gossips must be taken along with a truck-load value of salt-rumors concerning the iPad have definitely picked up in current weeks.
DigiTimes reported on Dec. 29 that Apple would likely introduce 2 iPad designs in January. “Apple is set to unveil its next-generation iPad-which will come in two versions-at the [MacWorld/iWorld expo] scheduled for January 26, 2012,” according to the report, but no names mentioned.
“The new models will join the existing iPad 2 to demonstrate Apple’s complete iPad series targeting the entry-level, mid-range and high-end market segments.” the report also cited.
