Nokia and Groupon on a joint venture for phone map deals

Groupon Inc. offers are being promoted by Nokia, especially on the maps on its Lumia smartphones. The company is trying to be noticeable in the very competitive world of smartphones, competing for the attention of cell phone owners in U.S.

Nokia’s joint venture with Groupon was declared on Wednesday. It shows offers of the company such as Groupon Now! On Nokia maps with green “G” logo. Those buyers who will use such offers can purchase offers through their cell phones and get directions to the locations to convert the offers by the navigation system of Nokia.

Moreover, the financial details of Nokia and Groupon’s partnership were not disclosed. Other deals and offers have not been announced. However, according to the Executive Vice President of location and commerce at Nokia, Michael Halbherr, in the future Nokia can look for methods of monetizing its maps just like giving phone owners simpler approaches in making bookings or reservations.

Furthermore, Nokia has been attempting to turn around its entire decline in the market of smart phones through implementing the software from Microsoft. However, it has had a slight achievement against its competitors Samsung and Apple.
