Secret Service Will Investigate on Fox News Twitter Hacking

Fox News Twitter HackingAccording to the Secret Service, it will investigate the hacking of the political Twitter account of Fox News over updates alleging President Barack Obama had been assassinated.

George Ogilvie, Secret Service spokesperson said the law enforcement agency whose job is to protect the president will carry out a search of the false postings and that “we will conduct the appropriate follow-up.”

Hackers cracked into the FoxNewsPolitics account, leaving a sequence of six tweets reporting that Obama has been shot to death in Iowa and the shooter was unidentified.

In a report posted on its website, Fox News named the tweets “malicious” and “false.”

An online magazine at Stony Brook University of New York, Think, stated that initial posts around midnight pointed out the Fox News Twitter account has been hacked by a team named the Script Kiddies.  Posts pronouncing the team’s hacking of the Fox News account were followed by the false posts concerning Obama, The Think reported.

The political Twitter account of Fox has over 34,000 followers.  Fox News did not right away reply to a request for comment.
