Sprint Nextel Corporation is going to offer the latest iPhone of Apple Inc. next month with unlimited data service plans to stand out from its rivals; Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc., reported by people familiar with the said matter.
The third’s largest US wireless carrier, Sprint Nextel Corp., is said to begin selling out the new phone in mid-October under the deal with Apple Inc. for their latest iPhone, the iPhone 5 according to the sources that cannot be named due because the plans are not in the public yet. Sprint is the only wireless carrier in the US that offers the device with unlimited data service for a flat fee, this will help the company to pull customers from the leading Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc., which already carries the device.
The Overland Park, Kansas based company (Sprint) is competing against the giants but struggling and has lost profit for 15 consecutive years. According to Matthew Thornton, an analyst from Avian Securities LLC, the iPhone in Sprint’s lineup will help it win back the customers again.
In the interview with Matthew Thornton, he said “It’s a competitive disadvantage if your two larger competitors have the iPhone and you don’t,” and also noted “Getting the iPhone closes that gap.”
Sprint spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein, said that Sprint doesn’t comment of the service or the products that they announced. Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison also declined to comment on the rumors.
