Users Could Place VoIP Calls to Any Website Using Twilio

TwilioThere are many websites or apps that you use that can help from the capability to place VoIP calls using the contacts you have.  It would be good for example if you can have an icon beside the people on your favorite forum where you can press and call them to discuss.  VoIP could currently be added simply without the devs having to create a VoIP infrastructure.

The Twilio Client is currently accessible for online use, the devs could drop the code for the client into the websites, and after that users could place VoIP calls easily.  The functionality of Twilio is said to mimic that of Skype Voice’s basic functions.  There are as well two mobile clients launching.

The mobile customers will cover Android and the iPhone. Using them, mobile devs could wrap VoIP into their games also.  Words with Friends can get chat ability for example.  The only downside is that using Twilio is not free.  It is worth ¼ of a cent for every VoIP to VoIP call.  Calls from VoIP to landlines or mobiles are two cents each minute.

While I think this is a great concept, the actual application and roll out of such a service will take some time. As well as this you need to consider user acceptance, it has taken a long time to integrate social features into websites, but this could be the next step I suppose?
